A Simple Metamaterial for High-Performance Spectrum-Selective Absorption in the Visible Region

In this paper, we numerically demonstrated a simple metamaterial for wide-angle and polarization-insensitive absorption in the visible region, which simultaneously showed strongly suppressed near-infrared region. Numerical simulations that under normal incidence proposed absorber had high absorptivity almost over 90% wavelength range from 340 nm to 770 nm, while low less than 10% 1 μm 2 μm. Because small unit cell with four-fold symmetry was utilized, selective of nanostructure independent incident angle polarization light. To understand underlying physical mechanisms, impedance electromagnetic field distributions were analyzed. Moreover, influence structural geometry parameters on spectrum systematically studied.
